A beautiful vintage cased glass onion vase from the Empoli region of Italy featuring a vivid blue exterior fused over an opaque white interior. Glass produced in this Tuscan town during the mid-20th century is renowned for its brilliant coloring and sleek, modernist silhouettes that defined the "Space Age" aesthetic. This mouth-blown vessel displays the classic Empoli bulbous form tapering into a slender cylindrical neck, with the cased construction creating a natural gradient where the blue tone lightens around the widest part of the body. The base is finished with a polished pontil mark.

Good vintage condition. No cracks noted. The item shows shelf wear on the underside of the base consistent with age. There is one small surface imperfection (a burst bubble or flea bite) on the body of the vase shown in the close-up photos.
