The Nike Air Max TW ‘Frank Rudy’ pays tribute to the aeronautical engineer who created Nike’s groundbreaking Air technology. The retro runner sports a ventilated white mesh upper with tan suede overlays and an extended heel counter in Light Photo Blue. A jeweled TW badge adorns the tongue, while Nike’s pinwheel logo is embroidered on the back heel. The sneaker rides on a cushy foam midsole, fitted with a yellow-tinged Max Air unit with the TW release year stamped on the lateral side.
Marion Franklin Rudy aka Frank Rudy is the engineer who created Nike’s Air technology, which forever changed the footwear business. In 1978, Nike released the first shoe using Rudy’s “Air” technology, the Air Tailwind. In 1980, he was a able to patent the technology furthering the “Revolution.”
