After Blind Faith disbanded, Eric Clapton remained in America and worked with Delaney & Bonnie & Friends. In 1970, he formed Derek and the Dominos with Bobby Whitlock, Carl Radle, and Jim Gordon, who were all members of Friends. That same year, with Tom Dowd as producer, they released the album "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs."
The album also featured Duane Allman of the Allman Brothers Band as a guest, and the guitar ensemble between him and Clapton, with Allman's slide guitar, is one of the album's highlights. In 1971, during the recording of their second album, a quarrel between Clapton and Gordon led to the cancellation of the production, and the band disbanded.
This box set is a record of the glory the band achieved during the short period from June 1970 to May 1971.
