Back of brooch is stamped "925". Approximately 2" wide by 1-3/4" tall. 1950 - 1960's. Sastro Dimulyo was the pioneer of this intricate filigree technique in Kotagede, Indonesia. Pictures don't do justice to the amazing detail of the handcrafted filigree work with the almost paper-thin sterling silver bands which make the intricate shapes & textures in the butterfly. Still on rare original card which reads: "Made in Indonesia 925 Kotagede Handicraft". I can't find another Kotagede sterling brooch for sale online. Kota Gede is the center of Yogya's silver industry.
